In class we talked about slavery, people who loved slavery and people who didn't. I've got a chance to look more into people who liked slavery and it was actually quite interesting and I thought I would share them with you. I found out that there were abolitionist arguments against slavery challenged pro slavery apologists to push slave evangelization. I also found out that the bible supported slave ownership which is something that I didn't expect. When doing research it made me believe that white christians were forced to like slavery but I'm not sure if that was the case.

Did you know that twelve presidents were slave owners for example John adams and his son Quincy Adams, George Washington, Zachary Taylor, etc. Thomas Jefferson owned the most slaves up to 600 and apparently he was very close to George Washington's. Was there ever a maximum amount of slaves that they were allowed to own that is my question.

Here are some facts that I found out:

  • In 1619 there was a ship called "The White Lion" they captured twenty enslaved black people in a battle with a Spanish ship.

  • In 1811 Charles Deslondes led 500 slaves down the Mississippi river road, and on his way he surprisingly killed whites and burned plantations.

  • In 1712 was a time were slaves lived next to each other, which allowed them to communicate more and tell each other stories of what when on during their day. Seventy blacks ended up in jail, and six of them ended up committing suicide and twenty seven others were put on trial and burned to death.

When reading Information it brought me to tears to read what black people went through they never deserved any of that. I wish back then everything is different and I know everyone feels the same way as I do.
